      daily experiences.

• To allow the young people the opportunity to help the
      needy.

• To provide opportunities of experiential learning and
     personal development.

• To allow time for prayer and reflection which is both
     stimulating and reflective.

What is S.O.S?

The S.O.S programme is a ten-day Christian service experience run by, for and with young people. It is funded by sponsorship from the Salesians of Don Bosco Office of Youth Ministry and also partly through fundraising. The programme is open to young adults who are members of any Salesian School, Parish, Youth Club or Youth Centre and are aged 16 +.

S.O.S is a community based experience. Each day, different service projects are visited and young people are actively involved in a variety of situations. Journaling, reflection and processing of the days experiences occurs individually and collectively, formally and informally. Throughout the experience, formal and informal education and formation will accompany the programme, with various workshops and inputs.

Much of the S.O.S program follows Don Bosco’s teaching methods and ways of working with young people. The young people will learn through prayer, celebration and just by being with each other. Young people will be encouraged to express their feelings and emotions of the day as well as be given opportunities to pray and reflect on their day.

  S.O.S
UR CHANCE TO CHANGE UR WORLD

Why S.O.S?

Salesians Out Serving is an experience any participant will never forget. It gives the individual the chance to make a difference, and also the opportunity to grow and develop, personally, socially and spiritually. A large part of the program involves manual work, which gives participants the opportunity to make a physical difference. It also gives each one the satisfaction of not only seeing the difference, but also the opportunity to be the difference.

(Team 09)

S.O.S challenges each young person in a different way. There may be many struggles along the road, but there is a specially selected team ready to support and encourage any young person who finds even the smallest difficulties. The team will also be highly involved in giving input and learning experiences, so that strong bonds will be built, and a strong community of support and friendship will be created.
